You may wonder why our clinic is called "3 Pillars Body Restoration Clinic". What ARE the 3 Pillars? Why should you care?
Well, first off, the 3 Pillars are: Chiropractic Work, Soft Tissue Bodywork, and Physio/Physical Therapy. These 3 paradigms work together to decrease inflammation, pain, and injury, educate your nervous system towards adaptable behaviors in your life outside the clinic/massage room, and create neuronal connections that serve to strengthen and create homeostasis throughout your life.
1. Chiropractic work: Chiropractic work is invaluable in creating a nervous system that is embodied. The sensory and motor information making its way through your spinal nerve roots is vitally important in how your muscles move and repair, how your nerves communicate with your organs, and how the fluid dynamics and circulation of your cells infuse your body with the chemical information it needs to thrive. When joints are subluxed or fixated, the communication is hindered.
2. Physical/Physiotherapy: Motion IS lotion my coworkers like to say. Regular movement with correct form is imperative in a nervous system and body that is able to thrive. In addition, specific targeted soft tissue work is able to break up scar tissue, increase nerve conduction, assist in proper movement form, and create effective communication between the brain, the tissues, and the joints. In regards to injury and trauma healing, strength work is a MUST in creating the biochemical environment that promotes healing, full range of motion, and nervous system adaptability.
3. Massage/Fascial Work/Craniosacral Therapy: Those of you who have been on my table have heard me talk in length about what I do. That said, soft tissue bodywork is an important part of the healing process as it helps facilitate fluid and chemical exchange between tissues, increases "feel good" chemicals such as endorphins and oxytocin, decrease pain both locally and regionally, assist in rewiring the sympathetic nervous system towards relaxation, and generally increasing homeostasis in the body. We take our cars in to get the oil checked every three months, why wouldn't we want to do the same thing for our nervous systems?
While these are brief overviews, each Pillar encompasses much more, intertwining, supporting, and communicating with each other to optimize your healing and wellness journey.
You'll Feel Better in My Hands,
Stine
